Never use steel or wire brushes because this will damage the antique surface along with making sure to bring back the corrosion again later on. When removing this form of corrosion, there can be a 10% solution of acetic acid mixed with water applied to the corroded areas for easier removal and to lessen any damage during corrosion removal.
